Hi-Tech Security With A Gate Operator

Let’s face it; you can have the slickest, most tastefully designed gate system around but it wouldn’t be worth the wood it was made from without a gate operator. Sounding more like a character from a fantasy movie than an actual mechanical device, a gate operator is actually the device that is primarily responsible for the smooth operation and efficient performance of electric gates.

Gate operators are actually pretty sophisticated devices at the core, although their seeming simplicity makes you forget that they even exist…until such a time as they break down that is. That being said, system malfunctions are fairly infrequent occurrences with today’s modern gate operator systems, particularly those that come from reputable companies with a proven track record of excellent products and service. Nevertheless any instance of gate operator malfunction should immediately be brought to the attention of a qualified repairperson, since optimal performance is essential in ensuring your safety and security.

One of the first things a repairperson will check on is whether or not the gate operator has a blown fuse. This is a common enough problem with most electrical devices, and it is a common cause of breakdown in gate operators. It is important to make sure that the fuse is replaced with one of equal value, as using a higher rated fuse is likely to cause permanent damage that can be quite expensive and even impossible to fix. As affordable as electric gate systems have become in recent years, they can still represent a fairly hefty financial investment, so you will want to avoid having to spend more money than necessary if you can help it.

Another common problem with a gate operator is voltage issues. Again this is not something that you should attempt repairing yourself, and is best left in the hands of a qualified technician. He or she will first determine whether the problem is caused by high or low voltage, and both cases will require different repair methods.

With proper care and maintenance, a well-designed gate operator should provide you with adequate service for a long time to come.
